How can you implement a Quality Management Plan?

QMP (Quality Management Plan), introduced in ISO 9001,2008, provides a systematic method for improving processes, products, or services through continuous improvement. It focuses on the ability to measure, analyze and control processes and customer satisfaction.

QMP is a standard way to improve business performance. The QMP aims to improve the process of production, service delivery, and customer relationship. A QMP should include all three aspects - Processes, Products, and Services. If the QMP focuses on one aspect, it is called "Process." QMP. QMP stands for Product/Service. QMP is also used to refer to QMPs that focus on customer relations.

Two main elements are required for the implementation of a QMP. They are Scope and Strategy. They can be described as follows:

Scope: This defines what the QMP will cover and its duration. This will be used to define activities that are performed in the first six months of a QMP.

Strategy: This describes the steps taken to achieve the goals set out in the scope.

A typical QMP is composed of five phases: Planning Design, Development, Implementation and Maintenance. Each phase is described below:

Planning: In this stage the QMP's objectives and priorities are established. All stakeholders involved in the project are consulted to understand their requirements and expectations. After identifying the objectives, priorities, and stakeholder involvement, the next step is to develop the strategy for achieving these objectives.

Design: In this stage, the design team designs the vision and mission, strategies, as well as the tactics that will be required to successfully implement the QMP. These strategies are implemented by the development of detailed plans and procedures.

Development: This is where the development team works to build the capabilities and resources necessary for the successful implementation of the QMP.

Implementation: This is the actual implementation and use of the QMP's planned strategies.

Maintenance: This is an ongoing process to maintain the QMP over time.

Additionally, the QMP should include additional items:

Participation of Stakeholders: The QMP's success depends on the participation of stakeholders. They need to be actively involved in the planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance stages of the QMP.

Project Initiation. It is important to understand the problem and the solution in order to initiate any project. In other words, they must understand the motivation for initiating the project and the expectations of the outcome.

Time frame: It is crucial to know the time frame for the QMP. The simplest version can be used if the QMP is only being implemented for a short time. However, if you have a long-term commitment, you may require more elaborate versions.

Cost Estimation. Cost estimation is another crucial component of QMP. Without knowing how much you will spend, planning is impossible. Before you start the QMP, it is important to estimate your costs.

The most important thing about a QMP is that it is not just a document but also a living document. It is constantly changing as the company changes. It is important to review it periodically to ensure it meets all current requirements.
